As we maneuver throughout our day-to-day life, there are certain things that come across our eyes and ears. We hear our associates, friends, and colleagues express their hardships and situations. We see people struggling and feeling down. Some of us may ask ourselves, “Why did the Lord put these circumstances in my path? Why do I need to see and hear about these sad situations?” You may not realize it, but there is a specific reason for everything we see and hear.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-3 (NLT) instructs us that “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.” This verse lets us know that God has a purpose, time, and place for everything. Nothing happens haphazardly with God. He has laid a path for us and ordered our footsteps so that we follow His divine synchronicity. He will guide us in our daily lives if we will allow Him, and He places things in our paths for us to be a blessing to someone, and to also receive a blessing.
Whenever we see or hear about someone going through hardships, we should always lend a helping hand. We should always give what we can, and have faith that what we give will bless them. Luke 6:38(NLT) promises us “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full--pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." Even if it’s our last, we can give it away and have faith that God is going to bless us with even more than what we gave. God is aware of what we have on hand, and sometimes giving our last is the very key to activate our faith.
Although giving material items and time is a blessing to those who need it, there is something more powerful that we can do; we can pray! We must always remember that we serve a mighty God, and He always answers our prayers. Prayer is the best thing you can do for anyone.
When you come across an accident or you see a person in need, you might not be able to lend a helping hand, but you can certainly extend a helping prayer. If we can do nothing else, we can always pray for people. Pray that God will intervene in whatever situation they are going through, and that He will provide a remedy for it. If we live our daily lives filled with faith that God will protect us and promote us, then we must also have faith that He will honor our prayers when we pray on the behalf of others.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to take notice of what is happening around us. We don’t have to engage a situation personally in order to be of service and help. Romans 12:12 tells us to rejoice in hope, be patient through challenging times, and to instantly respond by praying continually. Whether you’re driving to work, in the grocery store shopping, or going for a stroll, be mindful of what comes across your eyes and ears, and ask God to intervene in the situation through your prayers.
