The Conception of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

V.J.Mack

As Christians, we must constantly learn new things about our Father from His Holy Word, because as we increase our knowledge about Him our faith will grow. The bible is our living witness of God’s truth. It educates us on His goodness, His promises, and His love. The bible is also our manual for making the most out of our lives on this earth. Jesus Christ said in John 8:32 (KJV), “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” From the words of our Lord and Savior, we can know with confidence that in order for us to live the abundant life that he has made available, we have to know the truth, because only knowing the truth will make us free.

Christmas is the time that most Christians have set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and this is a great thing, but again, it is important that we know the truth. Jesus Christ was not born on December 25th. There are indicators in the bible that tell us this very clearly. Much of the evidence gathered by biblical scholars point towards the end of September as the birth of Jesus, somewhere between the 21st and 24th. Many of them believe it was September 23rd.

There’s a Christmas saying that reminds us, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” It is very appropriate that we have this reminder, because the world has tried to water down and erase the true meaning of Christmas and other important remembrances of our faith. The devil has tried to corrupt this most significant occurrence by first trying to cover up the actual date of our Lord’s birth, and secondly by making it about commerce, gifts, and decorations. It is important for us to know this, and we also need to know that there are many other truths from God’s Word that the enemy has tried to pollute so that people are blind to the light of Christ.

Matthew 1:18 (NLT) tells us, “18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. This truth is foundational to our faith. There are many people that do not believe it because the enemy has tried to cover it up in the hearts of people. The enemy doesn’t want us to believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, conceived by the seed of the Holy Spirit.

Those of us that truly love Jesus Christ and know him as our Lord and Savior have a responsibility to spread the gospel as much as possible. God has given us the bible to educate ourselves in His Word so that we can continue to glorify Him and live long, impactful lives. We must also be able to educate those that genuinely want to know about Jesus and might question his birth because they don’t understand it.

In Luke 2:11 (NLT) an angel of the Lord appeared to shepherds in a field near the place where Jesus was born and said, “The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” Jesus Christ came to save us from the curse of the law. He made a way for us to come back to God and have the kind of relationship that God always wanted to have with His people.

John 1:1 tells us that God is His Word. This is how important His Word is. The bible is the Word of God, and He has elevated His Word above His name. God’s Word never fails or falters. It is life to us, and we can build the foundations of our lives upon it. This is so absolutely critical for us to understand, because God does not dwell where His Word is not obeyed. He is a Righteous and Holy Judge, and His Word reigns supreme. As His people, obedience to His Word is a non-negotiable. To maintain fellowship and communion with God, we must reverence His Word, because John 4:24 (KJV) tells us, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

As long as we are honoring God’s Word first and foremost, we are in His territory of blessings and goodness, but as soon as we disobey God’s Word, we leave His territory and enter the realm of disobedience. This is a territory that belongs to the devil. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ventured into the territory of satan. All of their future offspring had no other choice but to follow them. This is the curse of disobedience, and this is why we needed a savior to rescue us.

Jesus Christ did for us what we could not do for ourselves. People were offering the blood sacrifices of animals in order to cover their sin for a period, but as soon as they sinned again, they were back in the enemy’s territory where he had the legal right to terrorize them with all sorts of darkness and evil. It was a vicious negative cycle.

Romans 6:23 (NLT) says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” The payment for sin is death. The only remedy for death is life. Life is in the blood. Hebrews 2:14(NLT) instructs us that “14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death,” Therefore, Jesus had to enter into this earthly realm in the flesh to redeem us from the curse of the law. He had to give his sinless, perfect blood, because his sinless, perfect blood was the only blood with enough life in it to cleanse sin for all eternity.

Some people ask how it is possible for Jesus Christ to have perfect blood when his mother, Mary, was human. She was an offspring of Adam and Eve; therefore, her blood was not pure, but had sin in it just like ours. This is very true, but God made the woman in such a way that the blood of the mother is never passed to the baby in her womb. The baby feeds off of the nutrients from the mother, but the blood in the baby is made from the father’s sperm.

Jesus Christ did not receive soul-life from Adam or Joseph, but he received it from the Holy Spirit. This explains why He was born with no sin, because the sperm that produced him was from the Holy Spirit. Mary’s blood, which contained sin, never touched Jesus.

Conception by the Holy Spirit was the only way that Jesus Christ would be able to fulfill the Lord’s promise. In the process of conception, the male’s sperm provides fertilization to the female ovaries to conceive a child, but there is no transfer of blood, only genetic material to decide the gender and attributes of the child. Again, the mother provides protection, nutrients and residency for the child prior to giving birth, but her blood does not transfuse into the child, only nutrients. For human beings, fertilization and seed comes from the father. The Father of Jesus Christ is the Holy Spirit. This is why we know his blood was sinless.

2Corinthians 5:21(NLT)

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Adam is the head of all the races in the earth. Jesus had to be in the linage of Adam in order to fulfill the promise. In other words, Jesus Christ had to be a flesh and blood man, but his blood was 100% pure. This is why the bible refers to him as the second Adam. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He is our Savior, and he is the embodiment of God’s Word, and we know Heavenly Father because of the life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection of Christ, our Messiah and Great Redeemer. ■
