Renewed Strength

Galatians 6:9(NLT) tells us, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” There are many seasons in life, and some of them can bring situations and circumstances that are very challenging. They can make us forget that life was given to us by God to enjoy, and to be fulfilled and happy. This level of harmony and joy escapes so many of us. Galatians 6:9 tells us not to be weary or tired of fighting the good fight of faith. It’s no secret that life can be challenging, but because of what God has accomplished through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we can be strong, courageous, and confident in the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within us. We must renew our minds to this truth no matter how many challenges life throws our way.

Whether it’s marriage and finding your person, better heath and finances, or increased intimacy in our relationship with God and greater spiritual growth, many believers have been praying quite some time for the manifestation of these blessings. Some of them feel that they’re still not quite where they’ve envisioned. Even though all of us might be busy moving through life, we might be dragging because of the frustration and dissatisfaction we’re experiencing. Thoughts and questions about when things are going to change are nagging us. We have doubts, and nothing diminishes our strength more than doubt.

In Mark 11, the disciples witnessed Jesus speak to a fig tree, and tell it that it would never bear fruit again. They were utterly amazed to find the next morning, when they passed through the area again, that the tree had withered from the roots up and not the top down. Mark 11:21-24(NLT) tells us, “21 Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, "Look, Rabbi! The fig tree you cursed has withered and died!" 22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, "Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours.”

The Words of Jesus Christ in this passage ought to ignite us with an unquenchable enthusiasm and excitement. He has unveiled a very important key to exercising a fully persuaded faith. It is the reality that our believing is the environment and engine that propels our faith to manifest outcomes. He said in Matthew 16:19(NLT), “And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." He has given us the keys, and it is our privilege and responsibility to use them. Like him, we can speak, and the power of our words mixed with right believing can cause things to change.

The peril of these times and the complexities of our circumstances and conditions are used by the enemy to trick us. These things can mess with our minds and undermine our believing to the point that we place more faith in the negative than we do in the incredible potency and truth of God’s Word and promises. God commands us in Ephesians 4:23 to be renewed in the spirit of our minds. This renewal is the key to renewed strength in every aspect of life.

When we believe that something is true, it changes us. Our behaviors, feelings, and attitude changes. A belief that is fully anchored in our hearts and minds will even change the way we speak. So, we need to ask ourselves if the truth of the incredible Words that Jesus spoke in Mark 11:23-24 has done this for us.

A change in us that has transformed our words and attitude from doubt to hopefulness is proof that our minds are renewed, and our believing is in line with God’s promises. We may have doubts about the economy, the state of the world, or those in power, but if we truly love God, we cannot have doubts about His promises and plan for our lives. We must trust in God’s goodness and in His willingness and ability to bless us, because this is the mind and heart that renews our strength. 2Chronicles 16:9(NLT) tells us, “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” We should want His eyes to land on us and find our hearts loyal and strong with faith towards Him. He wants the best for us, and our humility to change our thoughts from pessimism to eternal optimism in Christ will open the door to all that God has in store for our lives.Holy Bible, New Living Translation copyright © 1996, 2004, 2007 by Tyndale House Foundation.
